Today's vintage children's book, King Midas and the Golden Touch, is illustrated by the husband and wife team of Haig and Regina Shekerjian. Unfortunately, information about this couple seems to be elusive, so the best I can give you is a post I did on another book they illustrated back in 2011.

Thanks Jill. The spreads you've posted are inspiring. I'm working on a similarly designed book at the moment (one with limited color and careful drawing) and it's great to see another successful book in this format.
ReplyDeleteRob,
ReplyDeleteVintage children's books are a treasure trove of inspiration for limited color schemes. Some illustrators that come to mind are Nicolas Mordvinoff, Lynd Ward, Doris Burn and Evaline Ness. Do a search on my blog under the illustrator's name to see some books with limited color schemes.
You always find THE most interesting books, thanks for sharing them. Barbara
