Punch and the Magic Fish, Emanuele Luzzati

Today's vintage children's book, Punch and the Magic Fish, is a retelling of the
Grimm Brother's tale. I can't find any date in my book, but I'm guessing it's from
the 1960's. The illustrator, Italian born Emanuele Luzzati (1921- 2007), was according to Wikipedia, a painter, production designer, illustrator, film director and animator.

Luzzati's illustrations are so exuberant and well composed. I love his use of
mixed media. This is my first encounter with Luzzati and I want to see more
of his work.

  2. Search for more at the excelsior file (luzzati tag). Burgin has two of his other books at VKBMKL, too. I have the two Bill Martin Jr. Instant Readers he illustrated (When It Rains, It Rains; Whistle Mary, Whistle) but I have to admit that I just don't *love* his art.

  3. You'll probably find it, but Burgin also had a link to the Michael Sporn Animation site that has enough Luzzati to take up the rest of your day. :)
