What kid doesn't want a tree house at some point in childhood? I went through a period when I wanted one, but there weren't any suitable trees in our yard.
I wanted one for my children too, but neither my husband or I had carpentry skills, so they had to go without too. Well, one can always dream...

My desire for a tree house kicked into high gear after seeing Walt Disney's Swiss Family Robinson in the theater. Why couldn't I have been born into a family like that?

Oh my gosh -- I have that book at the top of your post, The Wonderful Treehouse! I found it at, of all places, the American Library of Paris, and it cost me a fraction of a euro. It came at a time when i had treehouses on my mind constantly, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, great blog!
I think it was the Swiss Family Robinson that pushed Bob and Theo over edge and treehouse designing began! We're still building it a year later, but plan to finish this summer. Really. Before Theo is too big to fit in it! But in Seattle, has to have a waterproof roof. Treehouses: a childhood fantasy that never really goes away. Thanks for the great post, Jill!
